The 20th century saw the British Army fight in two world wars. The First World War (1914-1918) saw the army fight on the Western Front, in Gallipoli, and in the Middle East. The Second World War (1939-1945) saw the army fight in Europe, North Africa, and the Far East. These conflicts had a profound impact on the army, and led to a number of changes in its organization and equipment.
