A Journey Into Contemporary Native American Communities
Speaking In Red is a journey into the heart of contemporary Native American communities. Harjo takes us to reservations, urban centers, and rural villages, where we meet people who are working to preserve their culture, protect their land, and build a better future for their children.
We hear from elders who have witnessed the horrors of colonialism and assimilation, and from young people who are fighting for their rights and their futures. We learn about the challenges that Native Americans face, from poverty and discrimination to environmental degradation and climate change.
But we also hear stories of hope and resilience. We meet artists, activists, and educators who are working to create a better world for their people. We learn about the power of community, the importance of tradition, and the strength of the human spirit.
