Barbara Payton was one of the most beautiful and tragic figures in Hollywood history. Born in 1927, she was discovered by a talent scout at the age of 16 and quickly became a star. She appeared in over 20 films during the 1940s and 1950s, including Trapped (1949),Only Angels Have Wings (1939),and Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (1950).

Payton was known for her beauty and her wild lifestyle. She was married four times, and her husbands included Franchot Tone, George Brent, and Gregory Peck. She was also involved in a number of scandals, including an affair with mobster Mickey Cohen.

Payton's career began to decline in the late 1950s. She was blacklisted by the Hollywood studios after she refused to cooperate with the House Un-American Activities Committee. She also struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

In 1967, Payton died of liver failure at the age of 40. She was buried in an unmarked grave in Inglewood Park Cemetery.
